Uber and Lyft are taking us ALL for a ride!
If you read this, you probably had a conversation with your Uber or Lyft driver about unfair pricing, working conditions or something similar.
The truth is drivers have very little control or choice in today's rideshare industry.
Mythbusters:
-
Doesn’t most of my fare go to the driver? - No, typically the companies take from 40% to 70% of what Riders pay for their trip
-
Doesn’t the driver know my destination? Most of the time drivers don't know the destination of the trip until they swipe start trip
-
What's the big deal if I added a stop? the driver gets paid extra to wait! Drivers DO NOT get paid extra to make stops or wait, wait time is 22 cents per minute
-
I voted for Prop 22; wasn’t that supposed to help drivers? - Prop 22 has very few drivers on any form of healthcare subsidy, even though the Riders pay a fee on EVERY ride they take.
-
My Driver is far away, he gets paid to pick me up!
- Drivers DO NOT get paid to pick up Riders, even if they are MANY miles away
-
Doesn’t the driver get my cancellation fee? No, often drivers don't get a cancellation fee, even if the Rider doesn't show up, due to for instance a wrong pin. Even when drivers do get the fee, it’s rarely more than $3.60, - the companies take the rest!
How can YOU help drivers every day?
